Electrical Work in the Mountains

Long outages, hard winters

This end of the county sees the longest power outages and the highest stakes when they happen. Winter storms bring wind and ice down on lines, access is slow, and many places sit empty midweek with pipes that can freeze. Properties on a well lose water along with heat.

That shapes most of what we do here. A standby generator or battery backup that starts on its own protects a cabin when nobody is there. An older service that was fine for a summer cabin often can’t carry electric heat, a hot tub and an EV charger in a home that’s now used all winter.

Power in the built-up areas is generally Puget Sound Energy, with Kittitas County PUD on the rural roads; your power bill settles it. Electrical permits and inspections go through Washington L&I. We handle the utility coordination, the permit and the inspection.
